Professional Development Framework
The YUSFL Professional Development Framework is designed to support instructors in identifying and pursuing meaningful areas for professional growth through evidence-informed, instructor-selected professional development. The framework consists of six Professional Development Domains and 29 Development Goals, covering key areas of classroom practice, including teaching and supporting learning, assessment and feedback, language and communication, learner autonomy, digital technology, and classroom interaction. It provides a common structure for Needs Analysis, individual professional development planning, SMART Goal setting, developmental classroom observation, and reflective practice. Rather than evaluating overall teaching performance, the framework enables instructors to select a specific area of professional interest, explore it within their own teaching context, and reflect on their development through focused classroom evidence and professional dialogue.
